Consider this if…

  • A trade mark renewal date is approaching
  • The owner, address or contact details may be out of date
  • The business has changed its products, services or branding
  • Several registrations need to be reviewed together
  • An unfamiliar renewal invoice or registry notice has arrived

How it works

  1. Tell us about the mark

Send the name, logo or registration details, the proposed owner and the goods or services connected with the brand.

    At the first conversation

  2. We review the position

We identify the searches, records, filing choices or documents required and explain any issue that should be resolved first.

    Before work begins

  3. Scope and next steps are confirmed

We confirm the agreed work, fee and expected process in writing, then carry out the searches, application or documents within that scope.

The scope and fee are confirmed in writing before work begins.

Check the registration before renewing it

A renewal continues the existing registration; it does not automatically correct ownership details or expand the goods and services covered. Before instructions are given, we check the register record against the business's current structure and use of the mark.

Review the portfolio as a whole

Businesses accumulate names, logos and registrations over time. Some remain important, some have been replaced and others may not cover newer products or services. A portfolio review can identify duplicated costs, missing protection and ownership records that need attention.

Treat unsolicited notices carefully

Private businesses may send official-looking renewal or registry invoices. Before paying, confirm who issued the notice, which registration it refers to and whether the service is required. Send an unfamiliar notice to us if you are unsure.

Information to provide

  • Registration numbers or copies of renewal notices
  • The current owner and business contact details
  • Examples of how each mark is now used
  • Any sale, restructure, licence or ownership change since filing
  • Planned changes to the brand or the business's goods and services

After renewal

Keep the updated registration record with the business's intellectual-property documents. Diary future dates and make sure responsibility for notices remains with a current person rather than a former adviser, employee or address.

Frequently asked questions

Does renewal add new goods or services?

Renewal continues the existing registration. If the business needs protection outside its current scope, separate filing advice may be required.

What if the registered owner is wrong?

The reason for the discrepancy should be identified before assuming it is an administrative correction. A sale, restructure or earlier filing issue may require additional documents or advice.

Is every renewal notice genuine?

No. Some private services use official-looking notices. Check the sender and registration details before making payment or providing information.

Can you review several registrations together?

Yes. Provide the registration numbers and current use of each mark. We can define a portfolio review and renewal scope in writing.
